At the age of 14, Williams quickly took the world of tennis by storm rising to the top - ranked position, breaking countless records, and winning numerous championships.
Not only a force on the court, but true to her bold spirit Williams parlayed her fine-tuned business acumen with her healthy competitive spirit into three successful business ventures:
Lifestyle and fashion-forward activewear brand
EleVen by Venus Williams
Full-service commercial and residential
interior design firm V STARR
and plant-based protein company
Happy Viking
Williams holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Indiana University East and an Associate of Science in Fashion Design from The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale.
In 2007 it was her unwavering fight which led Wimbledon to award women players the same pay as their male counterparts and most recently, she launched an awareness initiative called the #PrivilegeTax in conjunction with EleVen to bring attention to the wage inequality and unveiled a platform of resources for young women to get inspired and address the issue on a grassroots level.
All Women's Equal Pay Day was March 24, 2021, but equal pay is only achievable if we continue to push all year long.
This date symbolizes how far into the year women must work to earn what men earned in the previous year. Women working full time and year - round are paid 81 cents for every $1 paid to a man. Women are working longer hours and pursuing higher education in greater numbers. Despite this progress, significant wage gaps between men and women persist — particularly for women of color.
